Fruitful Vine

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine, within your house, your children like olive plants around your table.

God's Spirit

During church, I looked down at my 6yo. She had this ethereal look about her. I looked puzzled. She looked at me and said "I'm takin' a bath in God's Spirit." wow...

Hard Mother Moments

You want them to grow up. You want them to become mature, responsible adults. You want them to be successful in the world. But most of all you want them to continue walking with the Lord. And part of that growing, maturing, succeeding, and walking come by you letting go... Letting go can mean all sorts of things. You let go through marriage, through having them move into their own homes, etc. And so I suppose that success comes both ways. The children are successful, but the parents are too. I hope.

We have already "let go" of three children by marriage. And been through the "letting go" in the past of 5 by moving into their own homes. And we've had one marry and move far away for work. No, I don't have even more children than you thought. These are overlapping.

But this month, I "let go" of two more children. I have one moving to southern California for work related studies and another moving to Georgia for college. wow... We will have children living in North Carolina, Georgia, Idaho, and California. Who's next?

Peter and I knew when we had all these children that there was a high likelihood of them moving far away. And we accepted that. At least we thought we did. You know, you don't truly know if you've accepted something until you have to face it. And now we're facing it... and resting in Him.

Guest Rooms

We've often had guests coming through our home ever since we married close to 30yrs ago. Accommodations started out on a sofa bed in the living room and have sometimes moved to a double bed or twin beds. Now as we have had more children move out of the house, we are finally dedicating a separate room for our guests. I had lots of fun searching for new bedding and the accompanying curtains. We chose paint to coordinate with the bedding. The furniture belonged to my grandfather. You'll see that we're still planning to use the room for sewing and that I need to hang pictures/mirrors. The windows allow for sun and cross breezes. I hope our guests find rest when they come to see us and stay in this new guest room.
